Throwing your dog a birthday party is exciting and just like a child’s party requires some careful planning and organisation for the perfect day.
If you want to throw a birthday party for your dog but you don’t know when their special day is you can celebrate on the date when they arrived to their new home which some people call “gotcha day”. There is always a great reason to throw a party!
Things To Consider Before Your Dogs Birthday Party
One of the most important things to consider is the location. Are you holding it at your house, a friends house or even down the local park? Be sure to check the weather and if you’re hosting outside, always have a plan for if the weather takes a turn for the worst. On the other hand if the weathers going to be a scorcher then you need to make sure enough shade is provided to keep everyone and every pup cool and protected.
Whether you are holding a big or small birthday party for your pup you will need to take into account how many guests there will be so you can buy the correct amount of goodies plus a few extra to be on the safe side.
If you are providing all the nibbles and treats, it’s always a good idea to check if any guests (both two and four legged friends) have allergies or intolerances etc. There are so many great alternatives if you do have these requests and it might be a good idea to keep the allergen food separate in a different coloured plate or bowl so everyone is aware. You could also clearly label each tray of goodies so your guests know exactly what it is.
The most exciting part of planning your dogs birthday party is deciding what theme you are going to have. A beach theme, fancy dress, there are so many great themes you can choose from.
Are you going to set up any activities and games for the pups and humans? Maybe a mini agility course or setting up a pool and using water toys would be a great idea to keep your furry friends entertained.
You could create a small area for those who want a bit of peace and quiet from the party. A few blankets, toys and chairs away from the mayhem would be great for those introverted pups.
