Super Healthy 3 Ingredient Homemade Cat Treats

You have probably seen loads of posts on homemade dog treats like 3 ingredients dog treats (link) but now it’s time for homemade cat treats and your kitty is going to go crazy over them. The Cookie Rookie have a brilliant recipe that only takes a few minutes to prepare and it makes a bundle of treats for your cat.

They are really easy to make and you will feel all warm inside when you see your cat devouring your homemade cat treats.

For this recipe you just need 3 simple ingredients which you might already have in your kitchen cupboards, you will also need a small cookie cutter.


10 oz canned salmon undrained

1 egg

2 cups whole wheat flour

It’s important to choose whole wheat flour over white flour as it has 80% higher nutrition and more fibre which will help to keep your cats digestive system in tip top condition. It may also reduce the risk for diabetes and coronary disease.

Healthy DIY Cat Treats


Heat oven to 350°. Pulse 10 oz canned salmon (undrained) in a food processor and chop as finely as possible.
In a stand mixer, combine salmon, 1 egg (beaten) and 2 cups whole wheat flour until dough forms. If dough is too dry, add up to 1/3 cup water. If dough is too wet or sticky, add a bit more flour. Dough should be tacky but not sticky.
Roll out dough on a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick. Use a 3/4-inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice to create your treats.
Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. When they're slightly browned and crunchy, they're done.
Allow to cool before serving.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
